Cheesy Loaf
Use the Mini Loaf Mould from the children's set -

This loaf is delicious sliced and spread with butter.

LOAF
YOU WILL NEED;
Set of kitchen scales
Mixing bowl
Sieve
Wooden spoon
Teaspoon
Grater
Cup
Pastry brush
Cooling rack
INGREDIENTS
125g ( 5 oz ) self raising flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
pinch salt
25g ( 1oz) soft margarine
50g ( 2oz ) Cheddar cheese, grated
1 egg, medium
4 – 5 tablespoons milk
Topping
15g ( ½ oz) Cheddar cheese, grated
PREHEAT OVEN TO 190ºC, 375ºF, Fan oven 170ºC, Gas mark 5
1. Sift the flour and baking powder into the mixing bowl.
2. Add the salt, margarine and cheese.
3. Crack the egg into a cup, then add to the bowl.
4. Add the milk.
5. Mix the ingredients together, stirring well until you have a fairly firm mixture.
6. Spoon the mixture into the mould, smoothing the top with the back of your spoon.
7. Brush the top of the loaf with a little milk.
8. Sprinkle on the topping cheese.
9. Put the mould in the oven and bake for 20 – 30 minutes until the loaf is golden brown and firm to the touch. – take care when checking the loaf.
10. Remove the mould from the oven using an oven glove.
11. Place the mould on the cooling rack and leave to cool for a few minutes.
12. Turn out the loaf onto the cooling rack and leave to cool completely.
13. Serve sliced – delicious warm or cold
