BUTTERWIZARD

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

1. What is the ButterWizard?

The ButterWizard is a new invention from a small UK company Alfillé Innovations Ltd.

The ButterWizard is a temperature controlled butter dish which sits on a small recharging base, plugged into the mains.

The design is neat and compact and is easily recognised as a butter dish. The stylish design means that it would look attractive in any kitchen style from contemporary to traditional. The unit can sit neatly on the worktop without taking up too much valuable space.

2. Why is the ButterWizard so useful?

16 million households in the UK still buy butter on a regular basis. Many households buy both easy spread products such as Olivio and Flora as well as traditional butter. Butter is still bought for its delicious flavour but the problem with butter is that it becomes very hard if stored in the fridge and will be much too soft if left out in the kitchen for any length of time. It will also quickly become rancid if stored in an ordinary butter dish on the kitchen worktop.

The ButterWizard has been cleverly designed. It keeps butter at a pre- set temperature which is ideal for spreading.

3. How is the Butterwizard constructed?

The following parts make up the Butterwizard.:-

The main insulated ButterWizard unit has a removable butter tray and tight fitting lid.

A temperature adjustment tool is housed under the re-charging base – this is inserted into the temperature control slot and by turning to – or + the temperature can be raised or lowered slightly as required.

4. How does the ButterWizard work?

The ButterWizard operates at a factory pre-set temperature which keeps the butter at the optimum spreading firmness. It is thermostatically controlled. The unit heats and cools to maintain the correct temperature.

The butter is removed from its’ wrapper and placed in the butter tray. The lid is positioned. The lid is tight fitting and helps to keep the temperature constant. The plug top charger is connected to the main power supply. It is important to make sure that the unit is correctly positioned on the base.

The unit can be left on the table for a maximum of 2 hours

After using at the table, the unit must be put back on the base.

5. What is the optimum butter spreading temperature?

The optimum temperature at which butter is best for spreading is 18.5ºC ( 65ºC) The ButterWizard is pre-set to this temperature.

This pre-set temperature is suitable for most brands of butter on the market but brands do differ slightly and if you often change the brand of butter you use it may be necessary to adjust the setting to suit.

6. How much electricity does the ButterWizard use?

The ButterWizard is 15w. Tests carried out by Alfille Innovations have shown that the Butterwizard costs approx £7.64 per year to run.

7. Is there a guarantee?

The ButterWizard comes with a 12 month guarantee.

USE

8. Can I use any brand of butter in the ButterWizard and how much butter does the tray hold?

Yes, any brand can be used – the tray holds a 250g (8oz) packet of butter. If you use less butter and it would take too long to use a standard packet of butter, simply cut a pack in half and store the remaining butter in the fridge or freeze until required.

9. Can I adjust the machine if the butter is too hard or soft for my liking?

The temperature can be adjusted. Simply insert the temperature adjustment tool into the hole on the underside of the unit and turn to either the left or right position to increase or decrease the temperature.

After adjusting the temperature it is important to leave the unit to stabilize for 6 hours before making any further adjustments.

The ButterWizard is designed to work at most ambient temperatures. In very hot weather the efficiency of the machine may be affected slightly.

Tests carried out by Alfille Innovations have shown that brands of butter do differ slightly and so adjustments may be necessary according to the type of butter used.

10. Can the fan be heard ?

The ButterWizard is very quiet in operation and the fan can only be heard if you put your ear close to the base unit and listen very carefully.

11. How long can I keep the ButterWizard unit and tray away from the base?

The unit can be left on the table for up to 2 hours. The lid should be kept on. The butter will be kept at a perfectly constant temperature for easy spreading throughout this time.

12. How long can I leave butter in the unit.

Butter will be safe for 10 days before beginning to deteriorate. It must not be consumed after 10 days.

13. Is it safe to eat butter kept in the ButterWizard – have any microbiological tests been carried out ?

The Leatherhead Food Research Laboritories carried out tests on the ButterWizard for Alfille Innovations Ltd.

Samples of butter were taken over a 14 day period ( plus one fresh sample )
(15 samples in all )

There was no bacterial growth in any of the test samples, so butter could be kept safely for 14 days ( 10 days is recommended in the use and care instructions to keep well within safety limits)

It must be remembered that, like any other foods, butter will become contaminated if dirty utensils are used – all knives etc that come into contact with the butter must be clean otherwise bacteria can be introduced and will multiply. This happens to butter and other foods stored by any method.

The use and care instructions make specific reference to the importance of cleanliness and hygiene when handling butter.

The butter samples were tested for the following comprehensive tests.

E.coli
Presumptive Coliform
Listeria
Mould
Yeast
Pseudomonas
Staph.aureus
Salmonella
Aerobic Colony
Free Fatty Acids
Peroxide Value

Can I store other foodstuffs in the ButterWizard?

No, the ButterWizard is for butter only and has been specially designed for this one particular use – it is not a fridge and must not be used for storing any other foodstuff.
